I think I got in about and extra 2000 steps trying to chase down my fur-doll so we could get on the road (all 10 miles of it). Got home, unloaded a few overnight bags, cat chow, etc and then needed a nap !
Being at home will bring about a few different challenges (than staying with my parents). 1 - I'm sure there is still some 'junk' around here to eat where there is pretty much none at my parents (they take better care of themselves then I do) and 2 - I need to realize that when I'm here at Pleasure Palace (that's what I call my condo - I think I mentioned that I have 100000000 names for everything) that this is NOT real life.
I have never had much of a problem with eating right at home (i.e. a weekend). My overeating comes from a stressful commute, job, twinkie-twits I work with, errands, not enough time, running for fast food, jamming it in my face, etc. I love being home and being able to take things slow (even before this whole banded life). But, I do know that it is not real. And I will need to learn coping skills during the few weeks I have taken off work (ahhh .... it just sounds good to me to hear - taken off work).
New skill - I think compliments of Jess over at 30th summer (if it's not Jess - I'm sorry to whoever gave me this idea !) I'm eating my cup of tomato soup by dipping in spoon (straight down) and then eating whatever is left on the spoon. I started at 4:12, rewarmed soup 20 mins later and need to rewarm it again ! Ta-da ! Slow soup eating !! This slow eating, however, probably won't fly at work but it's a start. :)

Isn't tomato soup to die for right now??? You're doing great, Lady - keep up the good work!!
ReplyDeleteI used to commute 1 hr 45 minutes (total) each day. It was horrible. I felt guilty that my dogs were home alone so long. I ate fast food breakfast every day and sometimes on the way home I would be so tired that I ended up going through drive thrus. The drive was through downtown Phoenix, and sitting in gridlock with impatient drivers is no fun, so I hear ya. I left that job in June and still looking for something else - but it will never be that far again! More money is nice, but not worth it in my book. I want something much closer to home now!
ReplyDeleteI have to say thing that helped me was also using the baby sized spoons and forks. Also forces you to eat smaller/slower
ReplyDeletehey there, new follower. Looking forward to reading and learning more about your journey.
ReplyDeleteThats a good Idea with the soup. I do that with sandwiches. Mostly because they are hard going down but it helps me stay fuller longer off of the same amount of calories I had already alotted.
Before being banded I ate a drive thru breakfast and sometimes dinner too. I still get the urge to stop on the long trip home from work.
ReplyDeleteWhat I do now is have a small protein snack before I leave work and that keeps me from being fixated with french fries (most of the time).
