Victories: Scale = down 4 (I don't care if it's water) and NSV = was at the grocery store and everything I got was high in protein and on the yes-yes list. (Surgeon gave us a no-no list.) Well, on the yes-yes list for now, I guess.
My pre-op diet is not bad at all. I'm on 1000 cals a day of protein shakes (or meal replacement bars), liquids, broth and one Lean Cuisine meal which should be less than 300 cals. I snuck in a few nuts yesterday just to keep things moving. Decided that I could have a healthier meal under 300 cals instead of a LC. Last night had a veggie burger on some healthy bun-type thing with jalapeno mustard. The problem = did not take tiny bites. Chewed, chewed, chewed and ate slowly. No water before, during or after but NO tiny bites. I can see where I am going to need to the cut up all food and use tiny silverware. I guess the first step is recognizing the problem.

Yes- chewing and taking little bites is something you will need to remind yourself about all the time. Usually if I forget, KIT (that is my bands name) reminds me and that is not fun.
ReplyDeleteI am so glad your liked the award.
CeCe, you can do this. I promise that withon a few weeks after your surgery you will be saying that this was the best decision you could have made. Even if you have to cut everythign up in small pieces.
I plan on staying on super mushy foods for quite a while as I know this is going to be hard for me, too. I heard someone say they bought baby silverware to use. I try to take the small bites and I wait 1 minute (yes, I use a timer) in between bites. Good luck :) Amy
ReplyDeleteI read about the baby silverware and even small plates too - I think I'm going out shopping tomorrow to find some!!
ReplyDeleteGood job on that four pounds!!! Proud of YOU!!
I bought a couple of oyster forks and never have my teaspoons been used so much-My family constantly tease me about my forks but stuff them,it does make me take smaller mouthfuls...
ReplyDeleteYep, chew chew chew and small bites is the way to go!
ReplyDeleteYou're doing great...keep up the good work! I bought some baby silverware too! It's a good reminder.
ReplyDeleteYou'll be fine bite-wise when you get it, I just know it. :) One stuck episode is usually all it takes for be to make sure my bites are small enough. lol
ReplyDeleteYes, baby spoons/forks and tiny appetizer plates/bowls...I especially needed them when I was post-op. I found mine at Target and ROSS. Chew, chew, chew, then chew some more. :)
