I'm afraid I'm going to be a Lapband wives tale ... 'wasn't there someone named Cece who said she did everything right but the scale kept going up'? Yes, I heard about her ... but didn't believe it was true ...
Sadly, again, it's true. (I'm really trying not to get discouraged).
Yesterday's stats (via BodyMedia FIT):
Cals burned: 3106 - highest ever
Cals consumed: 1068
Deficit: 2033
Physical activity: 1 hr/45 - highest ever
Steps: 7370
Steps from pedometer: 11,256
water consumed: 96 oz
Protein: 70.7, Carbs: 86, Fat: 51.5
And the scale says: +.4
I guess I will be 'that girl' (oh, I though she was a myth) who followed the rules and didn't loose weight.
Oh, and the bills for surgery are starting to roll in ...
I am seriously thinking about buying a new scale (I think this was Sweetie's old one - took it 6-7 years ago).
Now, you KNOW I'm not ALL about the scale but come on ! I'd like to SEE some progress on the darn thing ! In the last week (the 1st week of mushies) the scale has bounced around but essentially has not moved.
The only thing I am NOT doing (as I can tell) is taking a multi-vitamin. I pick them up on Saturday from the nutritionist.
Deep sigh - carry on ...
On the bright side - this will NOT lead me to binging ...

Give yourself some time. Your body is still healing. Plus, it is normal for it to flucuate. If it really bothers you only weigh once a week. Chin up!!!
ReplyDeleteI think get a new scale and I also think you MIGHT need to up your calories a bit. Ask the professional but if you are burning that much you might not be getting enough calories in!!!
ReplyDeleteHang in there! I can remember losing and then it just stopped right at the beginning. And, yes, it did suck! But just keep doing what you are doing and your body will let the weight go. If you are weighing every day, I would encourage you to switch to once a week.
ReplyDeleteYou are still healing so don't get too down about it.
ReplyDeleteThat said, I hit a stall at around the same point in my journey so my advice is to shake things up a bit...looking at your numbers, I would suggest increasing your calories a bit. A 2,000 deficit is a lot and your body may be thinking you are starving it.
Okay. You need to listen to your good ol' pal Leslie who had surgery TWO years ago.
ReplyDeleteDo not weigh yourself everyday. It doesn't work. I think we are a lot a like in our habits and such and weighing everyday messes with my mind. I actually didn't have a scale the first 7 months after surgery and that is when I lost the most weight!
Just follow the band rules and things will happen. I pinky promise!
CeCe- Are you saying that you have not lost anything since your surgery or that you lost and are now holding steady? If you did lose on liquids and are holding steady or even putting a few pounds back on during mushies- you are NORMAL. I whined like a baby while that was happening. Once I could get my calories up a bit, the losses started again (not as fast as during liquids but the scale started moving again).
ReplyDeletePlease don't worry. You will not fail. Give your body time to adjust.
Stop it! :( There can always be a gain after a day full of activity, especially when you're just starting up like we are! You're doing great, and the hard work will pay off.
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry! I know it's really hard to not see the scale go down. Just keep at it and I promise the weight will start to come off!
ReplyDeleteBlah, forget all these people (although I'm sure they're right) .. I'm with you, new scales!! Mine's a do-do head too!
ReplyDeleteFirst, you should get a scale you trust (any scale) and don't use any others. The actual number doesn't matter (really, it doesn't) but it is the trend you are looking at. (For all you know, a new scale might weigh you 4 pounds heavier than now but it.doesn't.matter.)
ReplyDeleteSecondly, just do what you need to do. The weight loss will follow.
And third, make sure you are eating enough. I know everyone is different, but I have averaged 1400 calories a day for the past two years and have shown steady losses until the past 3 months (I'm 3 pounds from goal).
And fourth, don't give up.
I think you definitely need to give yourself more time. Be patient, it will happen. You are not going to wake up skinny. Please don't get discouraged. (((hugs)))
ReplyDeleteIt's really tough to see the scale go up. Seriously talk to your nutritionist at your surgeons office. I bet you're going to need to increase your calories to about 1200 every day for a week or so before you'll see the scale dropping again. Hang in there you'll get there.
ReplyDeleteIt sucks to see the scale not move and sucks worse to see it bounce! But hang in there girlfriend. We are in it for the long haul.. this all comes with it.
ReplyDeleteI think you should write down all the foods your eating and the stats on them.. and give it to your nutritionist. Maybe your not eating enough? Or differe.g things?
or maybe your body is adjusting.
Hang in there!
I'm not sure if its a good idea for you to burn more than you consume. You may be "starving" your body. Talk with your doc about your regimen and see what's wrong. Good Luck mama!
ReplyDeleteOh Dah. That's how you gwt the calories burned!!! Blonde moment :)
