I have never cared for the staff at my surgeon's office. The office manager (I believe) is German so I have tried to cut her some slack with her abruptness. During the months of testing I had to constantly check back in with the surgeon's office (which I never understood because she was always so annoyed when I called). From day one the office manager told me - your PCP will need to contact your insurance company to get the requirements -- we won't do that .... and yet when it was time to submit to insurance company - I tell her that my PCP is about to do that ... oh no, she snaps - we will submit to insurance !
When I thought I was completely done (according to what my PCP was told from my insurance) - the surgeon's office manager said - did you see the nutritionist yet? (These are just little examples of them (her) being so quick to get me off the phone or out of the office but always missing something ... ) . Back and forth, up and down, can't get me off the phone fast enough !
Surgery was on 7/21. Follow up appt on 7/29. Yes, she "forgot" about me (while waiting for staple removal) but this seemed typical. Per Surgeon's instructions I made the follow up for 1 month 8/26. I called this past Monday to confirm the time and was told that my appt was on 8/29 - not 8/26. She rushed me thru the call and said that "he" would not be there but 'we'll give you a fill'. I hung up the phone thinking - I need to call back (maybe calling Monday am was not a good idea) - if I understood her correctly - they were just going to 'give me a fill' - no check in with the doc, just get in here and 'we'll do it'. Note, I found the appointment card and of course it was for 8/26.
Today, they called. I missed the call and called back three minutes later. It was like they didn't know they called. Back and forth, on hold. Office manager comes on and says that they need to change my fill to 9/12. I said - I don't know if I want a fill - I want to see the doctor. On hold ... waitwaitwait ... ok, you can see him on 9/9. Rushrushrush - gotta go. "HOLD THE PHONE" I say ... you are not just going to rush me off the phone - am I going to see the doctor? "Yes, I just told you that" ... ohhhhhhh, she has ticked me off ...
Yes, I probably want/need a fill but do I want to talk to the surgeon first ... damn ! I do not like this office staff !
Extreme irritability is one of my signs that I need to return to my little pills ... but why should I do that just to deal with Twinkie-Twits?

You tell em! I hate incompetence!
ReplyDeleteTell the doctor when you see him. My husband works in the medical field and doctors do not know sometimes how the staff treats patients. I guarantee if you let him know he will take care of it. Hang in there! And, don't get a fill unless you feel you need one.
ReplyDeletethat sounds like my surgeons office...it pisses me off to no end!
ReplyDeleteThis is how I feel when I call my clinic and they are a little dismissive of my concerns - um, hello, you TOLD me to call 20 times a day if I felt like I needed to....also, I PAID YOU ALOT OF MONEY FOR SUPPORT!!!! SO SUPPORT ME!!! SHEESH! Yes, rudeness is my PET PEEVE.
ReplyDeleteWay to stick up for yourself. Don't take that BS. You deserve to see the doc and discuss how you feel (physically and the way you're being treated). Go kick some arse, as tactfully as possible.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely tell the doctor and bring the original appt card for "proof". Sounds like a mess but you seem like the type to nip that crap in the bud! You go girl!
ReplyDeleteWhat the hell? They need to get their act together!!
ReplyDeleteUghhh...so rude!!! I don't understand why people act like that!
ReplyDeleteIt always amazes me,being in the customer service business myself, how rude some office staff are,why would they even go into it???!!
ReplyDeleteOh my, I am so sorry for this. I have had great luck with great personal with both of my docs, in florida, and once back in ohio as well. I can't believe so many patients have to deal with such rude people! So sorry you have to go through this!
